We all know that it is not only what you know but who you know that matters. Research proves it. A study of seventy two million Americans showed that SOCIAL CAPITAL – the value of your child’s connections with the right individuals, organizations, and institutions, is a key driver of long term economic mobility and career success.
Unfortunately, schools measure what students know and never focus on who they know. That is a major mistake that leaves young people missing opportunities and losing millions of dollars in potential earnings.

- Many graduates of workforce programs are earning less than twenty five thousand dollars per year.
- Artificial intelligence is taking over roles that were once entry level positions for young people.
This is why we created Social Capital Smart to Help young people build the connections that schools don’t..
We are selecting only twenty five families nationwide for this special three month Social Capital Smart Parent experience. This is a selective process because we want to work closely with families who are ready to take action and help their young people build social capital in a structured, engaging and culturally competent way.
Once selected, you will take part in the Social Capital Smart Parent course, where you will learn practical strategies to help your child build social capital within the connections both inside and outside your community. This six week experience asks only one hour per week of your time and gives you the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to help your child uncover opportunities that already exist in your networks.
After you complete the course and earn your Social Capital Smart Parent certification, your young person will receive access to Social Capital Smart Rising Stars featuring Cortez, our youth learning experience designed for ages sixteen to twenty four. This program gives them the guidance, activities, and support they need to begin building their own social capital for long term success.

Level One: Awareness
You understand that your child’s future depends not only on what they know but who they know. You are willing to learn a new approach.
Level Two: Action
You can complete short weekly activities and join coaching calls when possible. You are ready to apply what you learn.
Level Three: Advocacy
You want to help your child see the value of social capital and encourage them to do the small steps that help them stay connected.
We do not expect perfection. We look for parents who are honest, willing, and ready to participate.
